DTG: Preview- LittleBigPlanet 2 [Hands-On]

DTG get hands-on time with the LittleBigPlanet 2 demo, read their time with the new features and the indelible charm of Sackboy here.

"Little more than a month away now, Media Molecule's LittleBigPlanet 2 is a rare example of a game in which it is the follow-up to a universally loved first chapter. Sackboy and chums managed to weave their way into gamers' hearts little more than 2 years ago, spawning the 'Play, Create, Share' moniker, effectively establishing a whole new genre on the console scene (see our feature; 'User Generation: A New Wave Of Gaming') and gave the PS3 its first genuine iconic character; with enough charm, insane levels of cuteness and indelible pleasantness to win over any who played it..." DTG: User Generation- A New Wave In Gaming

User generated content has come a long way in gaming from the more primitive mod scene into whole triple-A games that are wholly dependent on the creativity of its fan base. Richard Birkett of Dedicated To Gamers admires the new genre in this feature.

"Having been hard-wired into the mainstream consciousness around 2005, upon the arrival of advancements in web publishing, social interactivity services, and more importantly, Web 2.0, user generated content has soared in popularity; usage and implementation in everything from PC applications, to news web pages and gossip forums. The creation of sites such as Wikipedia and YouTube, and, to a larger extent, Facebook, are key showcases of user generation working at its finest; whole websites and services maintained and governed by nothing more than user input and the consistent and constant flow..." The release of Dead Money illustrates our commitment to creating entertaining add-on content for players to enjoy in already massive games like Fallout: New Vegas.”

Dedicated To Gamers: Maturity In Gaming

Dedicated To Gamers reflect on the current state of gaming and identifies steps that we all need to take into account for our medium to be accepted by the general population and not always referred to as "immature".

The topic of 'maturity' within a larger gaming context is one that is most important in the transformation of games, diversity (the first topic I will address) relates to the apparent sexism, racism and homophobia that has run rampant in the gaming industry; yes they do run rampant in films and music but they aren’t nearly as bad as gaming for one plain reason: games are the new comers to the world of entertainment and art. Now nothing should stop this medium from becoming accepted... (continued at Dedicated To Gamers.co.uk)

Dedicated To Film: Review- Tron: Legacy

Dedicated To Film review the return of Tron with Disney's Tron: Legacy, directed by John Kasinski and a special effects-laden 3D wonderment.

DTF write "Part remake and part sequel, Tron: Legacy brings the endorsing glow of cyberpunk and extraordinary science fiction awe in this 3D revitalisation by Disney (the original Tron released in 1982). Filmed in large portions in full three dimensions (the world outside of the 'Grid' exists in..."

DTG Review- Tron Evolution (PS3)

"A prequel to the upcoming sci-fi extravaganza Tron: Legacy; the eye-popping, ear-ringing, 3D behemoth, Tron: Evolution is also a sequel to the 1982 film from Steven Lisberger, Tron. For all its self-aggrandisement and somewhat tacky exterior, Tron came at a time of paranoia and apprehension in wake of technological advances. Thus, the story of one Neville Flynn being encased in a virtual world after an unwanted digitisation was a new leap in sci-fi, away from space operas and alien invasion movies. Evolution has the heralded position of being a videogame that is based on a film that is based on being trapped inside a videogame, but intends to serve the Tron universe much more favourably than you would have come to imagine from another tie-in from Disney Interactive Studios, who have a heap of tacky titles to stick to their name (Hannah Montana, Cars). But coming from Propaganda Games, who have just seen..."
